The Fun Theory

Watch these videos, then respond to the questions below in your idea journal.

Begin thinking  about the role of design in everyday life -  how the DESIGN of
something (a product, a piece of furniture, etc.) can affect whether or not
consumers (people like me and you) are interested in it or not.

The videos below feature the work of designers who tried to use "The Fun Theory" to  encourage more people to take the stairs and stop littering.

WATCH THE TWO VIDEOS FIRST... THEN ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

1. What is "The  Fun Theory"?  Do you believe it works?   Why or why not?

2. Can you think of any other situations where "The Fun Theory" is used?  Describe them.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT:  Come up with a plan (sketch it in your idea journal) for another way of making something that we don't usually enjoy doing way more
fun.  Use colour in your drawing.  Label everything (or make notes beside your
sketches to tell me what I am looking at).  You should use an entire page to write out / sketch  out your ideas.
