Idea Journal Assignment:
Realistic Figure Studies

For this assignment, you will use a two page spread in your idea journal to practice figure drawing.

Using photos from the internet, or (EVEN BETTER) photos you have taken yourself of people you know, draw as many figures as you can fit on two pages. (Minimum 8 figures)

For this assignment, you can choose to do detailed outline drawings, or add little bits of value (shading - dark and light), like the ones here, which have been drawn with pointillism (left) or ones with colour like the ones below. If you want to add shading, it is easiest if you look at the picture in black and white.

Your drawings need to be developed carefully - enough that they are finished little drawings (erase any "searching" lines, or sketchiness, and allow the drawing to remain on its own).

***You are not permitted to trace the images.

(Remember - this is intended to be practice for you - learning to draw realistic proportions - and the only way you can learn to draw realistic proportions is by trying it yourself. The more you practice, the better you will get!)
