February 18th and 19th:
In-Class: Bring your drawn letter to class (on watercolour paper) as well as your idea planning page(s)! With the letter drawing you finished at home, you will start adding watercolour paint, building up from light to dark. You can use the techniques we learned in class, or try your own. We will be putting names onto Art Kit Bags during this class as well! At-Home-Learning: Take this class to finish up your letter painting. February 16th 17th:
In-Class: I went over a few basic watercolour skills - and we made a sampler sheet. Remember that practice and experience will teach you WAY more than an instruction sheet, or demonstration will. I took in your Personal Surveys.
At-Home Learning: This time is to be spent drawing your idea (letter design) onto your watercolour paper in VERY light pencil. You will need to come to class next day with this completely drawn, so that you can start painting with me!

February 11th / 12th:
In-Class: We went over the course outline and the four areas of learning we will be focusing on for this year. We also started our Watercolour Letter Assignment - designing like a graphic designer! We are making a letter for young children. Use the letter to inspire the content (designs) of the letter. For example, an M could be for a field of Mushrooms. A P can be for a group of porcupines. An L can be for a lake scene.
At-Home-Learning: This time is to be spent filling out your Personal Survey, and developing your ideas for the Watercolour Letter Project. By next class you need to have your idea planned out - so that you're ready to draw it out on the watercolour paper!

FEBRUARY 9th / 10th:
In-Class: Welcome to Art Class! Today we worked on an introductory handout - THIS IS ME. Your job is to fill out all of the survey questions to the best of your ability, and then draw a self-portrait in the oval provided. Using the watercolours given out in class, finish your portrait with some paint! At-Home-Learning: Use your class time at home to finish and refine your painting. Do the best job you can at "finishing" your work. |
